That Little Ol ' Band from Texas. Nice show with a mix of a couple of new songs from La Futura as well as a couple of older songs that I had not heard
them play recently. My only complaint is that the show is to short. They could have thrown in 2-3 more songs and made it closer to 90 minutes. If the headling
shows fits on a single CDR then it is to short.

ZZ Top – La Futura (2012)

ZZ Top are set to release La Futura, their first new album in nine years, on September 10.
The legendary guitar band’s new album is their 15th studio LP, and has been produced by Rick Rubin and Billy Gibbons of the band. It is made up of 10 tracks and was recorded at Foam Box Recordings in Houston and at Shangri La Studios in Malibu. Of the follow-up to 2003's ‘Mescalero’, Gibbons says: “We thought long and hard about what this album should be. We wanted to recall the directness of our early stuff but not turn our backs on contemporary technology. The result of this melding of the past and the present is, of course, ‘La Futura’.” Earlier this summer, Gibbons revealed that he and bandmate Dusty Hill once turned down an offer of $1million (£638,000) to shave off  their beards. The singer, who has sported a lengthy beard since the group’s formation, told Brave Worlds that he and Hill were approached by Gillette, who offered them the staggering amount of money to shave.
Asked why he turned it down, Gibbons said: “No dice. Even adjusted for inflation, this isn’t going to fly. The prospect of seeing oneself in the mirror clean-shaven is too close to a Vincent Price film… a prospect not to be contemplated, no matter the compensation.”

ZZ Top fans will get a generous preview of the band’s forthcoming album next week, when the group releases Texacali, a four-song digital collection, on 5 June.
The four tracks that comprise Texicali, like the forthcoming album (to be issued via American Recordings in late summer or early fall), were produced by Rick Rubin and Billy F Gibbons and include I Gotsta Get Paid, Chartreuse, Over You and Consumption. These songs are the first new studio recordings from “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” in nine years.
A couple of weeks ago, listeners were able to sample I Gotsta Get Paid in a campaign for the Jeremiah Weed line of malt beverages that has generated tremendous on-line buzz for the video…
…that depicts Billy, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard performing – to the delight and amazement of the patrons of a convenience store – in a walk-in cooler.
“Based on the visibility of the ‘Gotsta Get Paid’ song, we decided to make available more of a taste of the album than just the one song,” said American’s Rubin. “That’s the beauty of the new digital landscape; we can put out what we want when we want, in the best service of the artist.”
Notes Gibbons, “We were itching to get some new music out before the full album release. Making available these four tracks seems like a good way to accomplish that most expeditiously. Dusty, Frank and I are happy with what’s been accomplished in the studio, so we figured we’d provide some hot and tasty ‘hors d’oeuvres’ before the main course is served this fall.”

After problems in the beginning ZZ Top became the most popular band in Texas with their straight music until 1972, and not seldomly played open-air concerts for upwards from 30,000 visitors. Under the titel 'Taking Texas to the World', Z Z Top undertook a US tour in 1976. The band brought along their own stage, in the form of the state of Texas, a buffalo, rattlesnakes, and different other attractions which they managed. Untill today, this tour is the most successful of any rock band in the USA. There will be no animals at Z Z Top's appearance at the Rockpalast-Nacht on April 19th and 20th, 1980. The group will present top quality blues, boogie and rock'n'roll on the stage in the Grugahalle and will also see to it that there's a lot to see. Motto: "Let's boogie till the cows come out" - or: "We want to dance till the cows wake up". The appearance of this 'Little Old Band From Texas' has many special features. For one, this is the very first appearance of this group outside of the USA. For another, Z Z Top has accepted an offer for a TV concert for the first time. Z Z Top is a three-man band from Houston, Texas. It was formed in 1970 by guitarist and singer, Billy Gibbons. Musical models for Z Z Top were, on the one hand, the then successful trios like 'Jimi Hendrix Experience', or 'Cream'; and, on the other hand, black musicians like Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and John Lee Hooker.
