Comments:
Mid Valley Records released a mammoth 24-disc set, "Exotic Summer," in the summer of 2011 that largely focuses on Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood's European summer 2010 tour. Several of these (at least Birmingham, London, and Antwerp) appear to have originated from sources that were originally posted on DIME shortly after the shows took place; however, at least five of the versions have not appeared on the larger torrent sites to date, and may be new to the broader trading community. The core of the set consists of ten European shows between May 18th - June 13th, 2010, with two "bonus" recordings from the U.S. tour the previous summer (Philadelphia 6/12/09 and Washington 6/13/09). The sound quality of the 12 audience recordings ranges between good and great; the two weakest are the "bonus" shows from the U.S., but all are extremely listenable. The set was distributed in deluxe packaging, scans of which are included here.
This torrent features discs 23 & 24 of the "Exotic Summer" set, an excellent audience recording overall and a source that is (I believe) new to DIME. There were two versions posted previously -- one was marginal quality, and the other had cuts in the first and last tracks ... this sounds better than both, and is complete. This version has a good mix, full dynamic range, and perhaps the most vocals you will hear in any of the dates on this set. There is no crowd chatter that I could find, though periodic phasing as the taper shifted positions. Excellent recording, and probably an upgrade for those (like me) who built their EC/SW collection entirely on the torrent sites. Relative to the other recordings in this set, it's got a very muscular, full low-end.
Setlist-wise, you'll note some songs that were dropped prior to the 2010 tour -- "No Face, No Name, No Number" was dropped in favor of other tracks (I'm not a fan of this song, so I would rate this as an improvement), and the second half of the show features a nice mellow version of "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out." Of note, I believe this is the last "Little Wing" of the tour, which is a shame.
This set first appeared as a single large posting on HungerCity by "MainlineFL" in July 2011, and has been broken into 12 individual segments to comply with DIME rules. Many thanks to him for the original share. (Note: Those who have already completed this download on HC can point the torrent to their existing folder and will resume at about 99%. After you download the show-specific artwork, info, and md5 signature, you will be able to begin seeding.)

STEVE WINWOOD - ABOUT TIME (2003)
STEVE WINWOOD - About Time (2003)
"About Time" is a Steve Winwood album released in 2003. It was his first album since 1997 and was compared to his earlier work with Traffic. Known for his work with Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith & as a solo artist, Winwood set out to craft a fresh, contemporary album that would combine rock 'n' roll & world music. Winwood centers the album's sound around the Hammond B-3 organ. Working closely with guitarist Jose Neto (Airto Moreira & Flora Purim) & drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr. (Santana, Traffic), About Time marks the first time in 27 years that Winwood recorded live without the use of multiple tracks or recording loops.
