The Incredible String Band (abbreviated as ISB) were a psychedelic folk band formed in Scotland in 1965. The band built a considerable following, especially within Britishcounter-culture before splitting up in 1974. The members of the group are considered musical pioneers in psych folk and, by integrating a very wide variety of traditional music forms and instruments, in the development of world music. The group reformed in 1999 and continued to perform until 2006.

The longtime drum and percussion team of Richie Hayward and Sam Clayton lay down a rock-solid foundation.
The band hasn't lost its sense of humor either...

After 30 years of playing somevery ecclectic rock n roll, Little Feat continues to put out quality material.
On Kickin' It On The Barn, the band puts out some varied material that is pure rock n roll with some
pleasing country, jazz, and world touches.
I find the touches of the accordion, mandolin, and percussion very appropriate on Corazones y Sombras.
The spanish flavoring is oh so pleasing. Night On The Town and the instruemtnal Stomp feature some
Grade A jams with Bill Payne's keyboard touches standing out. Heaven Foresaken is another great
focused tune with strong guitar passages. However, my favorite tune is the Freddie Tacket sung
In A Town Like This. The drumming is just mesmerizing and the guitar solos superb.
My only beef is that there is hardly any contributions from Shaun Murphy. Her one tune, I'd Be Lying
is a good one. However, I feel the band is not utilizing their best vocalist enough.

Nonetheless, this is a solid recording from a legendary band.

BLACK ROSE [with LES DUDEK & CHER]

Black Rose - Black Rose (1980)


Black Rose was a band which featured Cher on vocals and her then boyfriend Les Dudek on guitar and vocals. Their only release was this 1980 album for Casablanca Records. If you read about this album and were expecting an album similar to "Allman & Woman - Two The Hard Way", then you're in for a surprise. Not sure it'll be a pleasant one, though. This album has none of the flash of the Les Dudek albums. Instead it's a Power Pop exercise on which Cher gets to rock out some. It's not bad, just not terribly good either. I prefer the soulful sounds of her album with Gregg anytime. But since I'm a sucker for Les Dudek, I just had to complete my collection. So, are there any good Les Dudek songs on here? Hmm, sort of. Actually, he only gets to sing lead vocals on one track, a duet called "You Know It". I like that song, and it would fit nicely as a bonus track on his "Gypsy Ride" album. So, for that you should get this. Tricky move to start an album with a song entitled "Never Should've Started". For completists only..
