HEART - Beyond Euphoria (vol.1: 1969-84)
Heart : Beyond Euphoria (vol.1: 1969-84)
2012 was a busy year
for
Heart
They released their
14th studio album
Fanatic.
Published a
biographical book
Kicking and Dreaming:
A Story of Heart,
Soul, and Rock and Roll.
Received a lifetime
achievement recognition
by the
Kennedy Center Honors.
Got elected
to the Rock 'N' Roll
Hall of Fame.
And released a
career spanning
box set
Strange Euphoria.
The box set
was their 10th
compilation release.
Along with the
expected dose of hits
were a generous
helping of band
and solo rarities.
Since the record
companies have worked
the hits compilations
extensively,
it's time to feature
the rarities.
Over the years
Ann & Nancy Wilson
have collectively
and individually
released and contributed
a number of songs
that never turned up
on any Heart albums
or solo works.
We will be covering
Heart
in a 4 volume project.
This first installment
will be the early years
and the original
Mushroom Records
release of what
was to be the band's
second album
Magazine.
Details on the latter
have been retold
time and again.
Suffice it to say
the band was not happy
with their contract
or Mushroom in 1977.
They ditched
the project and
signed with Epic Records.
The album was
released against
their protests.
A legal battle ensued
and Heart compromised
to rework the album
and re-release it
in 1978.
These were the original
mixes that Mushroom
released and then pulled
from stores/radio airplay.
