Claude Russell Bridges, is Leon Russell's real name, and in typically eccentric fashion, the white-bearded wonder uses Wilson as his alias when he sits down to record some beloved country standards in his own inimitable hoodoo way. Legend, subtitled Hank Wilson Vol. III, is a curious, quite satisfying walk through Nashville classics ranging from "Crazy" and "Sweet Dreams" to "Night Life" and "Love's Gonna Live Here." It replaces the bluegrass lilt of the earlier Hank Wilson's Back with a raucous piano-driven edge that makes "Sixteen Tons" and "Daddy Sang Bass" really swing. Guests include Willie Nelson, Marty Stuart, and The Oak Ridge Boys. --Michael Ruby
