THE KINKS - SOAP OPERA LIVE

Kinks Supergroups In Concert

Here's the Kinks Super Groups In Concert that was syndicated in 1982.   Or Supergroups In Concert, as they spell it one way on the cue sheet and another way on the record label.

It's a compilation of two shows.  According to Doug Hinman in "The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night: Day-By-Day Concerts, Recordings and Broadcasts, 1961-1996,"  the "Los Angeles" portion of the show was sourced from Feb. 7, 1977 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.  This was originally taped for a King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast syndicated on April 23, 1977.   Hinman says, "Eight recordings subsequently resyndicated on LP as Supergroups In Concert Aug 7 '82."

The other show ("London")  is most likely the same Hippodrome that's up at W0lfgang's Vault.

That leaves two unidentified tracks.  My guess is they're also from Santa Monica, as they're in the setlist for that date and venue, and I think that Mr. Hinman is wrong about only eight tracks from the '77 show being rebroadcast; the number is probably ten.

Sound quality is fabulous!  I declicked the files one click at a time after cleaning the records with Titebond II wood glue.  Full 300 dpi scans of the cue sheet, promo script, and one of disc labels are included.  All commercials are tracked so they can be dropped by those that don't like them.  The only thing I left off was a test tone, other than that, this is a clone of the discs.

THE KINKS - The Great Lost Kinks Third Album

The Great Lost Kinks Third Album

Today is letter response day.And today it's my turn to answer the questions that you all are saliavating over. First a Mr. Jo Paul from Albuquerque New Mexico asks "Is V-Chile really a porn star?" Well Mr. Paul the answer is yes and no. V-Chile was originally scheduled to play the role of Norris Hungwell in the porno remake of Elvis's Clambake but had to pull out at the last minute due to his prior commitment as the primary speaker at Mitt Romney's school of "Deny Everything and Claim Credit." Next up we here from a Scummy Morris from Skid Marks South Carolina. Scummy wants to know "Has INASLIENTWAY integrated into the mafia yet?" (Well we will let him answer this one.) "Da Boss really don't want this inquiry answered. Ya Know Watt I Mean?" Well Scummy,I think that's a hot potatoe type question and will just leave it there. Finally a Mrs. Bleeny Cacahead from Scrotum Virginia asks "What happened to Mitch Lopate?" Well Bleeny from what I'm told Mitch has transversed all of his consciousness to a diffrent dimension. And to contact him you must strip naked run to the end of a rural area scream "Not this record" twice on a Tuesday and he will appear. Well folks that's about all the time I have and as always see scans                                              http://fp.io/e4cfmca3/

THE KINKS - The Great Lost Kinks Album

Another Great Lost Kinks Album

One thing you never see here at the Wagon is the way all of us are committed to improving the way things work around here. There are so many behind the scenes things going on it would take a full 3 pages to list them all. So with all that braintrust going on around here, I would like to introduce our latest feature. We are calling it Comments Utiltized Not Trivialized, or C.U.N.T. for short. Yes that's right an all new way for you to leave comments without taking the time to actually write something. From now on all you have to do is leave a letter. Here are the comments you can pick from. A. You suck and Jobe your not funny. B. How dare you people ripoff these musicians by posting their music and giving them nothing in return. I hope you all burn in Hell, but I'm going to download this anyway. C. You guys here are the real 5th Beatle. D. Thanks for giving us all these great tunes. That's it.Easy isn't it? All you have to do now is leave a letter in the comments. See scans for details.

THE KINKS – Kollekted: Complete History 1964 – 1994 [3CD]

Kinks – Kollekted: Complete History 1964 – 1994 [3CD] (2011)

Dutch three CD digipak collection from the British Rock icons spanning their entire career. From early rock classics like ‘You Really Got Me’ and ‘All Day and All of the Night’ to career highlights like ‘Lola’ and ‘Come Dancing’, this triple disc anthology traces the incredible 30 year career of Ray and Dave Davies and Co, 63 tracks total.
Although they weren’t as boldly innovative as the Beatles or as popular as the Rolling Stones or the Who, the Kinks were one of the most influential bands of the British Invasion. Like most bands of their era, the Kinks began as an R&B/blues outfit. Within four years, the band had become the most staunchly English of all their contemporaries, drawing heavily from British music hall…
…and traditional pop, as well as incorporating elements of country, folk, and blues.

THE KINKS - ARTHUR [DELUXE EDITION]

Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) was released in October 1969. Kinks frontman Ray Davies constructed the concept album as the soundtrack to a Granada Television play and developed the storyline with novelist Julian Mitchell; however, the television programme was cancelled and never produced. The rough plot revolved around Arthur Morgan, a carpet-layer, who was based on Ray Davies’ brother-in-law Arthur Anning. Arthur was met with almost unanimous acclaim upon release. It received generous coverage in the US rock press, with articles running in underground magazines such as Fusion and The Village Voice. It garnered back-to-back reviews by Mike Daly…

…and Greil Marcus in Rolling Stone magazine’s lead section; Daly rated it as “the Kinks’ finest hour”, and Marcus went so far as to call it “the best British album of 1969?. Reviews in the UK were also positive. Although it received a mixed review in New Musical Express, Disc & Music Echo praised the album’s musical integrity, and Melody Maker called it “Ray Davies’ finest hour … beautifully British to the core”.
The album, although not very successful commercially, was a return to the charts in the US for The Kinks. Their critically well-received previous effort, The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, failed to chart in any country upon its release in 1968, with total US sales estimated at under 25,000 copies. The Kinks returned to the Billboard charts in 1969 after a two year absence, with the lead single from the record, “Victoria”, peaking at number 62.
Despite its moderate sales, Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) paved the way for the massive success of their 1970 comeback album Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part OneLola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One and its accompanying US and UK Top 5 hit “Lola”.
This 2-CD expanded edition comes with deluxe packaging containing Mono and Stereo mixes as well as unreleased material, alternative versions, BBC sessions and short interviews, all re-mastered from original tapes by well-known Kinks archivist Andrew Sandoval. The booklet was designed by award winning art director Phil Smee, comes packed with rare and unreleased images from the era.
