Allman Brothers Band
Tampa,Florida `70
For the ones, who maybe still don`t have this one: Excellent Allman Brothers performance; the Rhythm section`s playing cool and groovy, while Duane let his guitar howl.
Beautiful!

I don't have a date, but the location of this show was the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in Tampa- The venue is still there, but it is no longer used for festive occasions. I think I read somewhere the other day that they plan to remodel the Armory and turn it into some kind of shopping center or something. Not that it really matters… It had poor acoustics anyway.
ReplyDeleteI saw Zappa there on three 50mg Seconals in 1976. It's also the place where the NWA used to hold their weekly televised wrestling matches (until they built the USF Sundome). The famous picture off the cover of Elvis Presley's 1st album (the one where he's holding his guitar and he's singing with his mouth open) was taken there in 1955. In the original picture, you can clearly see the balcony area full of mesmerized fans. That’s also where the African-American wrestling fans had to sit back in the old days! I know... I was there!
The real song titles are:
ReplyDeleteStatesboro Blues (second, faster part that they stopped playing)
Trouble No More
Going Down Slow
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
Gregg was not there, says that he had a 103 fever. I think Duane sang the lead.
