10 years ago, Lotus released the first studio album of our career – an album that has stood the test of time with live staples like “Spiritualize,” “Plant Your Root,” “Greet The Mind” and fan favorite rarities like “Colorado” and “Ball Of Energy.” To celebrate the anniversary, Lotus rerelease Nomad via Harmonized Records! The digital version is remastered and includes a live performance of the complete album from the June 2013 show at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Pittsburgh.
Combining elements of jam bands and electronic dance rock, Lotus was formed by brothers Jesse Miller (bass/sampler) and Luke Miller (guitar/keyboards), Steve Clemens (drums), Chuck Morris (percussion), and Mike Rempel (guitar) while they were attending Goshen College in Indiana in 1999. They recorded their debut album, Vibes, in concert in the fall of 2001 and self-released it in 2002. A second live album, Germination, was released on Harmonized Records on May 13, 2003. Nomad, the group’s first studio recording, followed on September 21, 2004. The Strength of Weak Ties, another studio album, appeared on April 4, 2006. Lotus was signed to the SCI Fidelity label for its third live album, a double disc called Escaping Sargasso Sea, released May 29, 2007. Five months later, Copy/Paste/Repeat: Lotus Remixed was issued on November 6, 2007. Lotus’ third studio album, Hammerstrike, came out on October 14, 2008.

Rock & Roll Christmas is a wildly uneven collection of holiday songs by rockers from the '60s, '70s and '80s (with a short jump back to the '50s on Chuck Berry's "Merry Christmas, Baby"). The songs are thrown together with no sense of pace or context. For example, Bon Jovi's super smooth ballad "I Wish Everyday Could Be Like Christmas" is followed by Bob Seger's wall-shaking "Sock It to Me, Santa," which in turn is followed by the Moody Blues' ponderous and overwrought "What Child Is This." On the positive side, the disc does contain a few Christmas classics that may be hard to find elsewhere, namely Billy Squier's "Christmas Is the Time to Say I Love You," Elton John's Beach Boys/Phil Spector-inspired "Step Into Christmas," the Kinks' "Father Christmas," Emerson, Lake & Palmer's "I Believe in Father Christmas" (which a clever compiler would have put side by side with the Kinks' track), and the Waitresses' typically snarky "Christmas Wrapping." The makings of a very good compilation are here; the follow-through is faulty with too many duds like Elvin Bishop's "Silent Night" and the Bon Jovi ballad on-board. (*reverse the R and the L and you have "Polydor") The number on the CD itself is 12151977 (both on the disc and printed on the front of the disc).

“On February 12th, 2014, we planned an intimate private ‘dress rehearsal’ show to premiere the songs from our brand new album “English Oceans” in front of a small live audience of friends. The plan was to film and record the performance for use in promoting the album. It turned out to be the day of an ice storm that essentially shut down the Southeast for a couple of days and the roads were unpassable from the combination of black ice and the South’s lack of snow plows and ice related services. We played the album in its entirety and had a pretty swell time. This DVD contains the performance and is a pretty nifty document of that moment in time for our band.
