Notes: I will always have a soft spot for The Who.  They were the first big stadium show I saw back in 1989 when I was 17 and I honestly have never been disappointed in the times I've seen them over the years.  Say what you want about Roger's voice or anything else, but I thought this show was great and a lot of fun.  The recording came out pretty decent as I was fairly close to the left side hanging stacks.  My only complaint would be that it wasn't very loud…never thought I'd say that about a Who show.

Raised overall volume and resampled/dithered via Adobe Audition, no EQ.

Audience Recording
Recorded by: Yogilou

Source: MMCM-4 cardioids> Tascam DR-07 @ 24/44.1 (I will put up a 16-44.1 version as well)
Location: Section CCC (floor, right center in front of Pete, 20th row from stage)

Great night with The Who! This recording of the show started out rough, as my seat was right next to a security person. As a result I couldn't check my recording levels until near the end of The Punk and the Godfather, when I realized (as I expected to find) that the recording levels were too high. This resulted in some clipping (particularly during the vocals) during the first 5 songs, but it does get much better after I was able to turn the volume down. I did perform some volume level reduction on the first five songs so they blend well with the rest of the show.I do think the loudness of this show pushed the limits of my microphones though. Be sure to listen to the samples.

Zak Starkey was not on drums again in this show (a real bummer for me, as he helped saved The Who as far as I'm concerned), but Scott Devours did a fantastic job. So don't worry if you are going to see the band in one of the upcoming shows. It sounds like Zak has tendon issues and is done with the tour. Finally, Roger's voice was strong overall, but had moments of struggle. I would love to see them again on this tour, however, and feel fortunate to have been able to see them in Denver.

JEFF HEALEY - AS THE YEARS GO PASSING BY

Before an untimely passing in 2008, Canadian vocalist/guitarist Jeff Healey toured ceaselessly, eventually growing in prominence to be one of the more world-renowned blues guitarists of his time. Blind and with a unique playing style, Healey's approach to the blues was all his own. As the Years Go Passing By collects three previously unreleased German concerts, recorded in 1989, 1995, and 2000. Over the course of the collection's 31 tracks, a rare look into the guitarist's evolving style is laid out, especially on different versions of spirited tracks like "My Little Girl" or "Roadhouse Blues." The detailed background information and rare pictures in the booklet provide an insightful look into the evolution of Jeff Healey. The concerts are presented as they were performed, live without the aid of studio intervention. - cduniverse.com

Lineage SBD portions:

Lineage: SBD > Unknown (low) gen cassette (TDK SA90 type II) > Nakamichi RX-505E (azimuth aligned) > Griffin iMic > Macbook using VinylStudio V7.5.7 > Flac > Sound Studio > speed correction, volume level adjustment, patching in fills from AUD source > Flac lvl8 xAct 1.71

TOGFIADO notes: I was given the tape as a present by a guy who worked at Light and Sound design in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles (a lighting hire company which coincidentally provided the system for several of FZs tours prior to 88) when I was preparing a rig prior to a tour. He made a copy for me overnight in a bit of a hurry, so his version is probably without the saturation problems this one has in places. This was in early summer 1994 and I haven't been back there since, and the company has been taken over since then anyway so may not even be there anymore.
