THE NIGHTHAWKS - DAMN GOOD TIME

Damn Good Time, features a combination of original and classic material. The album showcases the new line-up on versions of Jimmy McCracklin’s Georgia Slop, Elvis’ Too Much, the classic Smack Dab in the Middle, Nat King Cole’s Send for Me and a cool version of the Wilbert Harrison tune Work Together. The most-recent band member, drummer Mark Stutso, does four originals, demonstrating the added talent he brings to the band as a songwriter and singer. The lone original member Mark Wenner gives us 6 tunes that feature his roadhouse vocal style and great harp work. Recorded at Severn Records new state of the art studio, Damn Good Time represents a new beginning for the band and for Severn Records                                                1 Too Much

DRIVIN N' CRYIN – Songs from the Laundromat EP

Drivin’n'Cryin’ – Songs from the Laundromat EP (2012)

In a world where the download is rapidly replacing physical product, more than a few artists have declared the album is dead, but Drivin’n'Cryin‘ leader Kevn Kinney has a slightly different view — he’s bored with albums, and tired of watching his ideas get stale before he can get them into circulation. Or at least that’s Kinney’s explanation why his band plans to release a series of four EPs over the course of 12 months, beginning with Songs from the Laundromat in June 2012. Running through five tracks in less than 15 minutes, Songs from the Laundromat is intended to showcase the “rock” side of Drivin’ n’ Cryin’, and it opens with “Dirty” and “Ain’t Waitin’ on Tomorrow,” two tough, raunchy rockers that should bring a smile to anyone who still carries a torch for…
…Fly Me Courageous, while the 32-second “Baloney” is a proto-hardcore blast that suggests the love child of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Descendents. The remaining two cuts are wild cards; while “Clean Up” features some arena-ready guitar work from Kinney and Sadler Vaden, the tone is heartfelt and the lyrics offer a melancholy view of a broken relationship, and “REM” is a puzzler, built around titles and lyrical bits from the catalog of the recently disbanded Georgia heroes and boasting a melody that could have come from Peter Buck himself. It’s hard to tell if “REM” is meant to be a tribute or some sort of parody, but the other four songs all connect on one level or another, and like 2009's The Great American Bubble Factory, Songs from the Laundromat makes it clear that Drivin’ n’ Cryin’ still have plenty to say despite spending most of the aughts under the radar. If Kinney and his bandmates can keep cranking out short-form product this good, maybe it’s just as well if they don’t bother with full-length LPs any more.

THE KINKS - The Great Lost Kinks Third Album

The Great Lost Kinks Third Album

Today is letter response day.And today it's my turn to answer the questions that you all are saliavating over. First a Mr. Jo Paul from Albuquerque New Mexico asks "Is V-Chile really a porn star?" Well Mr. Paul the answer is yes and no. V-Chile was originally scheduled to play the role of Norris Hungwell in the porno remake of Elvis's Clambake but had to pull out at the last minute due to his prior commitment as the primary speaker at Mitt Romney's school of "Deny Everything and Claim Credit." Next up we here from a Scummy Morris from Skid Marks South Carolina. Scummy wants to know "Has INASLIENTWAY integrated into the mafia yet?" (Well we will let him answer this one.) "Da Boss really don't want this inquiry answered. Ya Know Watt I Mean?" Well Scummy,I think that's a hot potatoe type question and will just leave it there. Finally a Mrs. Bleeny Cacahead from Scrotum Virginia asks "What happened to Mitch Lopate?" Well Bleeny from what I'm told Mitch has transversed all of his consciousness to a diffrent dimension. And to contact him you must strip naked run to the end of a rural area scream "Not this record" twice on a Tuesday and he will appear. Well folks that's about all the time I have and as always see scans                                              http://fp.io/e4cfmca3/
