While there's no certainly no shortage of live Allman Brothers Band albums, each with something to recommend it, this one finds the group at its jaw-dropping peak. Recorded in Washington, D.C. just a few months before the performance captured on the band's seminal "Live At Fillmore East" album, this live album concentrates on the bluesiest aspects of the Allmans' sound.
While the country and jazz elements of the band's style are hinted at here, and there's no shortage of extended jams on such epics as "You Don't Love Me" and "Whippin' Post", (which were new to the Allmans repertoire at the time), the Chicago blues influence predominates. The fury and forward motion the band lends to Muddy Waters's "Trouble No More" and their pumped-up, house-rocking take on Bilind Willie McTell's "Statesboro Blues" (just imagine a time when the latter was not tainted by classic-rock ubiquity) mark the Allmans as true blues ambassadors.
The burning, youthful energy that courses throughout "Live At American University" makes it a must for fans of the Allmans' vintage era.

The Wind At Four To Fly could be the best officially-released representation of the power of The Disco Biscuits. Recorded at a handful of shows just after drummer Sam Altman announced he was leaving the band, the music captured here displays the band's vigorous, inspired playing in the wake of the announcement. With one disc of concise constructions like "World Is Spinning" and "Kitchen Mitts" and another disc of all-out trance-fusion mayhem including a gargantuan "Basis For A Day," this set reflects the many angles from which TDB approach their brand of music. With superior sound quality, wildly colorful artwork and packaging, a satisfying track list, and raging performances inspired by Sammy's last stand, The Wind At Four To Fly serves as a wonderful look back at the band's past and builds anticipation for their future.

FUZZY DUCK - FUZZY DUCK
Fuzzy Duck is the self-titled album by London-based progressive rock band Fuzzy Duck. When it was originally released, only 500 pressings were made, making the original vinyl LP extremely rare.
The album reached legendary status by affiliation, as it features Mick Harnsworth of Five Day Week Straw People and Andromeda, and Roy Sharland, a keyboardist who later worked with the Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Spice. This album is classic keyboard-driven British progressive rock in the vein of Soft Machine and Caravan and is well-deserving of reissue. The Arkarma issue features four bonus tracks previously unreleased and excellent repackagingmore… that surpasses the originals for quality.

Corea, Clarke & White - Forever [2 CD]
Pianist Chick Corea, bassist Stanley Clarke and drummer Lenny White have teamed up once again to revisit their common roots in the seminal fusion band Return to Forever. On June 7, 2011, Concord Jazz released Forever, a two-CD set of 18 tunes that include updated RTF classics as well as jazz trio standards. In support of the release, a tour is planned for next summer.
