David Hood - bass; Roger Hawkins - drums;
Reebop Kwaku Baah - percussion

This is the part of the stream of essential Traffic performances 1967-1974.

This recording was made while the band was taping shows for their soon-to-be-released On The Road double CD. For the tours and records made around this time ('72-'74), Traffic was augmented by three members of the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, a group that had provided backing on some of the greatest rock and R&B hits of the 1960s and '70s, including many classic Aretha Franklin and Dusty Springfield records. This same month, Traffic released Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory, which went gold and reached the American Top 10.

By adding David Hood on bass, Roger Hawkins on drums and Barry Beckett on keyboards, the group's core members -Winwood, percussionist/vocalist Jim Capaldi and sax player/flutist Chris Wood - found an enormous amount of freedom to play their respective instruments. Many Traffic classics are here, including "Empty Pages," "Evening Blue," "Forty Thousand Headman," "Glad" and "Freedom Rider," but there is still enough room for several, then-new tracks to be featured, including "Shoot Out At The Fantasy Factory," "Rock and Roll Stew," "Roll Right Stones," "(Sometimes I Feel So) Uninspired" and "Light Up Or Leave Me Alone."

For fans of Traffic, Winwood, or classic rock in general, it doesn't get much better than this.

A perfect soundboard recording from the Eagles 1994 Hell
Freezes Over tour. I believe this to be a soundobard instead
of an FM broadcast because as far as I know they never did
any FM broadcasts from this tour other than the MTV special.
One of the more popular recordings from their 1994 tour, I
haven't seen this on DIME yet so I thought I'd share it.
Couple of things to note: first, on disc 1 the last track has
both "Lyin' Eyes" and "One Of These Nights" on it. No idea why
these were not plit up, but this is how I got it. These are
original silver CD's BTW, NOT CD-R's. Second, you may be able to
fit these onto 2 discs - again this is how I got it, on 3 discs
and so I've never changed it. Third, there is artwork out there.
I can't upload it but this is a very popular CD so I'm sure a
little searching on the internet and you can find something.
This was the set list through-out most of the 1994 and 1995 tour.
Not too bad - my only complaint was that they played too many of
their solo hits during the second act. I mean, we were there to see
the Eagles! They had so many songs - "James Dean", "The Last Resort",
"Ol' 55", "Saturday Night", the list goes on and on. Otherwise, this is
a fantastic recording, it basically speaks for itself, so please rate
and ENJOY!!!

STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN – Happy New Year Blues - LIVE BROADCAST FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA 12/31/1986

Stevie Ray Vaughan – Happy New Year Blues (2016)

LIVE BROADCAST FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA 31/12/1986 FEATURING LONNIE MACK By late 1986, Stevie Ray Vaughan had been through rehab in London and, according to all reports, was feeling like a new man. His dependency problems, which had haunted him right through his career, were he felt, now behind him and he was intent on two things; getting back to playing the blues and helping others overcome their own, similar problems. He achieved the former with ease and passion – this was, after all, what the master guitarist existed to do. The latter did not come so naturally, but SRV made commendable effort in his oft-witnessed stage announcements, advising and guiding his audience members, sharing the wisdom he had garnered in going through the hell he had suffered. The concert featured on this CD is taken from an FM radio broadcast, transmitted live from the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, on New Year s Eve 86, was clearly a dynamic event. Stevie and Double Trouble perform with gusto and flare, whilst the audience are wild with ecstasy. Joining Vaughan on stage after the new year kicks in is none other than guitar legend Lonnie Mack, and the two bluesmen bounce off each other beautifully for a magical rendition of Mack s Oreo Cookie Blues, which ends this extraordinary performance and readies Stevie Ray to enter what, tragically, would become the final, albeit majestic, era of his career – and sadly his life.

TANGERINE DREAM - Quantum Key EP (2015)

Tangerine Dream – Quantum Key EP (2015)

Quantum Key Quantum Key will be the vanguard of the coming Quantum Gate album which Thorsten, Ulrich and Hoshiko are currently working on. Edgar Froese, the head and founder of Tangerine Dream, had the wonderful idea of translating the current knowledge of the quantum physics – which he was very much interested in – into sound and already started this project before his sad death in January 2015.
The cupdisc Mala Kunia was the first music out of “The Quantum Years” series which was published in November 2014 on the occasion of the MMW Festival concert in Melbourne. It was a great fortune that Edgar still had the chance to discuss his vision with the remaining band members and that Bianca, Edgar’s wife, decided to continue with Tangerine Dream. She knew that Thorsten, Ulrich and Hoshiko could face this huge challenge with their beautiful talents. At the same time this task would be a unique chance for the music coming into life. So the band continued developing these musical ideas after Edgar’s sudden “change of his cosmic address”.

TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND - Let Me Get By [Deluxe Edition] (2016)

Tedeschi Trucks Band – Let Me Get By [Deluxe Edition] (2016)

Tedeschi Trucks Band – Let Me Get By [Deluxe Edition] (2016)

Tedeschi Trucks After 2013’s Made Up Mind, Tedeschi Trucks Band hit the road hard, racking up 200 dates in 2014.
After Derek Trucks played the Allman Brothers Band’s final shows, and TTB’s parting with Sony, the 12-piece band and friends (including Doyle Bramhall II) entered their Swamp Raga Studios behind Trucks’ and Susan Tedeschi’s home, and began recording jam-style rehearsals; everyone was encouraged to contribute ideas, songs, etc. They’d break to work the road then return to record some more. The end result is Let Me Get By, produced by Trucks, recorded by Bobby Tis, and released by Fantasy. Jazz bassist Tim Lefebvre joined permanently (he was also part of David Bowie’s band on Blackstar), and Alecia Chakour was enlisted to balance Mike Mattison and Mark Rivers on backing vocals. The lineup is rounded out by keyboardist Kofi Burbridge, drummers Tyler Greenwell and J.J. Johnson, and a three-piece horn section. Trucks proves a fearless producer here. This collaboratively written ten-song set showcases the band’s skill at playing and composing through Southern soul, roots rock, blues, greasy funk, jazz, Indian classical, film music, and African and Brazilian polyrhythms. An obvious studio offering, it’s warm and resonant, yet crackling with energy and ideas. The feel is loose and grooving, the performances hot.
Over TTB’s last two albums, Tedeschi has become comfortable as the lead singer of a large band. She’s almost iconic here, taking chances with phrasing, finding hidden spaces in lines and syllables, and emoting from the belly. She never oversells a song but always sings the hell out of it. (Check “Anyhow” if you want shivers.) She plays a mean guitar, too: her solo in the gritty, punchy, party funk number “Don’t Know What It Means” is a highlight. But everybody gets to shine here — Mattison with lead vocals on the Brechtian-esque carny rock of “Right on Time,” and the modal soul of “Crying Over You/Swamp Raga for Hozapfel, Lefebvre, Flute and Harmonium” — adding character and depth to TTB’s signature. Lefebvre’s syncopation and invention create new possibilities for harmonic and rhythmic dialogue. His bass pushes the funky dual drum breaks and biting electric piano and organ on the title cut, allowing roaring horns, soaring chorus vocals, and Trucks’ spiraling slide to collide with and flow through one another. The unusual meld of Memphis soul, Bollywood-style strings, Eastern electric slide, and strummed acoustic guitars creatively come together to support Tedeschi’s wrenching, affirmative vocal in the passionate “Hear Me. The rave-up dancefloor R&B in “I Want More” is guaranteed to put any party into overdrive. The meld of gospel, soul, doo wop, and blues rock on closer “In Every Heart” offers a Trucks’ solo that digs deep in the emotional grain to contrast with the sweet vibe.
Never has TTB sounded so organic, relaxed, and free. Let Me Get By is the album this group has been striving for since their formation. You need this.

Like many rockers who gained prominence in the ’60s, Mason’s resume is impressive and long - Traffic, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Mama Cass Elliot and even Michael Jackson, to name a few.

Having just released the Split Coconut album in September 1975, Mason played only the title track from the album for this New Year’s Eve show and filled the set with some “golden oldies” such as Feelin’ Alright, All Along The Watchtower, Only You Know And I Know and Gimme Some Lovin’, a song whose riffs kind of foreshadow those on The Eagles’ Life In The Fast Lane.

Listening to this show, one realises that Mason did not receive as much recognition as a guitarist as he deserves and it’s good to know that Mason received his Outstanding Career Achievement Honor at the Media Interactive Conference in Hollywood on November 21. But that’s like a bonus.  Guitar rock fans should check out Mason’s show if and when the man comes to town. Visit www.dave-mason.com for tour updates.
