notes: lots of sources floating around for this show but
I really like the sound of this one. the last couple
of notes of CC Rider are cut. I have Jerry Moore's
master fm reel, but most of it's in mono so I haven't
transferred it. I see there is a pre fm source listed in
the database which is missing the last two songs.
I haven't heard it. At any rate, I hope you enjoy this
version of a real treat of a set.

Despite their plans to edit a second album, some months later BB&A would break up.

WILCO - Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994-2014

Wilco – Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks

Wilco – Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994-2014 (2014)

Chicago alt-rock band Wilco celebrate their 20th anniversary with a pair of compilations: one a best -of collection and the other a box set of rarities. The rarities set is called Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994–2014, and includes live tracks, demo cuts and rare recordings culled from throughout the group’s career and features appearances from Feist, Fleet Foxes and Andrew Bird.
Four-CD box set have been produced by Grammy-nominated producer Cheryl Pawelski, co-founder of Omnivore Recordings and veteran of countless projects from labels including Capitol and Rhino. Pawelski notes in the press release, “Like a lot of fans, I had collected these straggling tracks over the past two decades of following Wilco’s every move. Alpha Mike Foxtrot includes almost every unique, essential performance that appeared on soundtracks, tribute albums and B-sides—and there are probably a few surprises for even the sharpest collector. This set presents an alternate history of the band, kind of a sideways view, and ultimately, it’s a super-fun listening experience.”

This is the part of the stream of essential Traffic performances 1967-1974.

This is written about a GD concert thouht for years to be Anderson Theater, 11-23-1970 with Winwood as a guest.

This is the concert formerly thought to have taken place on 11/23/70 at the Anderson Theater in New York City. This show has been shrouded in mystery and confusion over the last 30 years ever since it first entered circulation in 1973. However, fresh research has unveiled what is most likely the true story behind this classic Grateful Dead show.

There are several pieces of evidence which now point directly to the
"11/23/70 Anderson Theater" show being correctly identified as Fillmore East 11/16/70. 1) Traffic has been confirmed, in a letter written by th

e Kleinhans Music Hall, as having played at the Kleinhans Music Hall, Buffalo, NY on 11/23/70. This firmly places them out of New York City on that date. Thanks to Greg Shaw for this help. 2) Bill Graham introduces the Dead. The identification of his voice is clear, as never before, on this new transfer. Bill Graham and the owner of the Anderson Theater were not friendly with each other and Bill Graham would never have introduced the Grateful Dead in the Anderson Theater. 3) A 1:55 snippet of Hot Tuna playing Hesitation Blues precedes the Dead's show on the first generation 10" reel. 4) After Bob Weir sings the Frozen Logger off-mic, several people on stage can be heard attempting to get Jack Casady to join in saying, "Hey Casady, why don't you play" and "Hey Jack, hey Jack, c'mon up". Hot Tuna played on 11/16/70 at the Fillmore and they are not known to have played at the Anderson Theater. 5) An eyewitness who attended the 11/16/70 Fillmore show clearly recalls Steve Winwood and Jorma Kaukonen sitting in with the Dead. 6) Music was commonly played over the P.A. between sets at the Fillmore to promote upcoming shows. Elton John played at the Fillmore East the following weekend, November 20th and 21st as the warm up for Leon Russell. This was his first New York City appearance. 7) On page 382 in his book Long Strange Trip, Dennis McNally mentions this show as being from the Fillmore East, 11/16/70.

According to Corry Arnold on 11/14/70 at the Fillmore East after Frank Zappa's performance Grace Slick came on stage and announced on behalf of Bill Graham that the Dead and the Airplane would be playing a surprise concert at the Fillmore East on Monday, November 16th. On the 16th the very pregnant Slick was unable to make the gig but Hot Tuna substituted for the Airplane. This is why this show does not appear in ads and playbills etc."                http://fp.io/b7dfm87b/

Rolling Stone reported on July 28, 2011:

[In the summer of 2010] Gregg Allman was confined to his Savannah home, recovering from a transplant that became immediately necessary after his doctor found cancer on his liver. “It’s a painful thing,” he told Rolling Stone last night at the Beacon Theatre, where the Allman Brothers Band played a rare, off-tour, three-hour show. “While I was healing, I kept wondering what it’s going to be like a year from now.”

Last night, one year and one month later, he got his answer – with help from friends Natalie Cole (who slayed Whipping Post) David Crosby and Graham Nash (who lent their timeless harmonies to several of their classics and rarities), and Phil Lesh (who jammed with the band on a string of Grateful Dead classics). It was that kind of night.

Over at the Allman Brothers website, the following note is posted:

What a Show! The one-night only benefit concert at the Beacon for the Tune In to Hep C campaign is now history, but what a night! Also broadcast live on XM Radio, The Allman Brothers Band was joined by a stellar list of special guests including, in order of their appearance, Natalie Cole, Danny Louis, Ron Holloway, Bill Evans, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Phil Lesh, Devon Allman and Billy Gibbons.

Although the show is over, the war against Hep C is not. We need your help! Please join Gregg and a host of others in supporting the battle against this horrible disease. Please visit the TuneInToHepC website and learn more about how you can help. Get the word out by wearing this Tune In to Hep C tee - all proceeds go to charity. You can buy it at Hittin’ The Note.
