DEVON ALLMAN - Ragged & Dirty
Devon Allman – Ragged & Dirty (2014)
Devon Allman – Ragged & Dirty (2014)
When you’re a Allman, the road seems to go on forever. But it does have some intriguing twists and turns along the way. Devon Allman — son of Gregg, leader of the group Honeytribe and member of the all-star Royal Southern Brotherhood — released his first “solo” album, Turquoise, back in February 2013.
For Ragged & Dirty, Allman left his Southern comfort zone, hired a crack Chicago band, and enlisted the producing and writing talents of Grammy winning producer Tom Hambridge.
“For Ragged & Dirty I really wanted to change my entire approach. I had made all my previous records down south, but this time I wanted to record in the electric blues Mecca of Chicago, with cats that live and breathe playing blues based music.
I also enlisted Tom Hambridge to produce. He custom-wrote songs for me, which was a first and having him quarterbacking the sessions from behind the drum kit was a unique experience for me as well. He was in the trenches with me every step of the way. Tom pulled my essence out on this record and pushed me in a most positive manner.”

Mega-rare restored vinyl "Sin City 77" Alladin Center For The Performing Arts, Las Vegas 1977-08-25 Top ten FM show in excellent quality! (mp3 sample included)
This is in my opinion one of the finest Fleetwood Mac shows ever put on tape. Not only are you getting the group in its prime while riding high on the "Rumours" tour, you are getting a heartfelt, genuine performance as well. The entire group is at peak, with Stevie Nicks as a standout. She has never sounded better. She catapoults both "Dreams" and particularly "Rhiannon" into the stars. The girl is on fire, and it shows.
Althoug labeled as "Mega-rare", this double boot LP along with the Jethro Tull title "A Sack Full Of Trousersnakes" sold out very quickly and was repressed several times. This torrent is taken from a nearly mint first edition on Dragonfly Records. But even if you have this album, your humble seeder believes you have never heard it properly. All copies of this show ran just fast enough to make the performance sound a little sick. I've corrected the speed to make the the album pitch properly. Even though this was just by a small amount, it makes a huge difference in the sound quality.
This album is labled "entire concert". Well, maybe it is and maybe it isn't. I have heard that "Monday Morning" may in fact have been played and isn't on this two-record set.
I'll be dropping in soon with more goodies already in the oven.
If you are intending to burn this show to CDs, burn through and including Gold Dust Woman on CD1, and everything else on CD2
Lineage: LPs->Sound Forge->Speed correction on turntable (pitch down slightly)->Click and Crackle removal->FLAC via TLH, level 6, sectors aligned and verified, FLAC integrity checked.

Long Tall Sally
Harking back to an earlier incarnation of Wings, "Got Any Toothpicks?"is a collection of soundboard recordings from Wings' 1972 Summer TourOf Europe. This special 26th anniversary edition has been remastered from newly
discovered sources, surpassing all previously available versions of
this material.
Liner Notes
"Wings Over Europe" hit the road in early July 1972, playingtwenty-plus shows by the time the tour wrapped up at the end of August. The set list consisted of a mix of previously released
McCartney/Wings tunes as well as providing a showcase for new material
This collection of highlights from the first "official" tour, opens
with a portion of Wings' show at the Cine Roma in Antwerp, Belgium on
August 22, 1972. The tape picks up with the last number of the first set,
'Best Friend'. It was this performance that has served as the basic
track for all the different versions prepared for the never issued
'Cold Cuts' collection. The majority of the second set is also
included with an added bonus. For the only time on the tour, Paul
and Co. performed the Leadbelly standard 'Cottonfields', a huge
European hit for the Beach Boys in 1970.
'Hi, Hi, Hi' and 'Wild Life' both come from the soundtrack of the
uncompleted MPL film project, The Bruce McMouse Show. These
performances were captured at the Congresgebouw in The Hague on
August 21, 1972. Also originating from this concert is Wings'
performance of '1882', an unreleased track originally slated to be
included on 'Red Rose Speedway'. The version appearing here consists
of the live recording after being subjected to additional studio
overdubs, most noticeably additional vocals from Paul. On a side
note, the commercially released live recording of 'The Mess' was
also recorded at this performance.
As Wings was a "real band" opposed to just being Paul's backing
group, each member was afforded a solo spot during the show.
'Henry's Blue', a lengthy, droning 12-bar, complete with
unintelligible lyrics served as lead guitarist Henry McCullough's
contribution. The second version on this collection comes from
Wings' appearance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on August 20, 1972.
Also recorded this day was an interview for the Dutch radio program,
'Popsmuk'. To close the broadcast, Paul, Linda and Denny Laine
huddled around Henry at the piano and offered an improvised
performance entitled "Complain To The Queen".
As previously noted, these recordings represent Paul in a rare
democratic 'group' setting, certainly the only time this situation
has existed outside of the Beatles. Not surprisingly, this period
was also Wings' least successful in a commercial sense, forcing
Paul to the fore on the 'Red Rose Speedway' LP, evidenced by the
'Paul McCartney and Wings' moniker on the cover. This disc contains
several of the surviving documents of that era.

FLEETWOOD MAC - The Vaudeville Years of Fleetwood Mac 1968 to 1970
Two long CDs' worth of outtakes, alternate versions, and full-length versions from the Peter Green era, most in exemplary sound quality. Although much of this is interesting, and it's occasionally very good, it resembles Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac Live at the BBC in its unevenness, both in aesthetic quality and in stylistic tone. One is struck by how much the numbers featuring Green's singing and songwriting surpass those in which the other guitarists come to the fore. When Jeremy Spencer's in charge, it means you get 1950s rock pastiches and blues satires (though he does an OK Elmore James schtick with "Talk to Me Baby" and "My Baby Is Sweeter"). These aren't without their amusing points -- there's the entire session of songs that would have made a bonus EP with Then Play On, on which Spencer does fairly humorous impressions of Alexis Korner and John Mayall -- but deathless art it's not. Green shines on a live version of "Oh Well" (everything else here, incidentally, is from the studio) and alternates of "Showbiz Blues" and "Love that Burns." There are also alternates of "Man of the World" and "The Green Manalishi," though frankly these aren't so different from the familiar renditions that they'll jar you into taking notice. Some of the cuts are nothing more than shapeless jams or instrumental tracks with ideas that sometimes got pumped up into full tunes on official albums. So it's kind of like having a high-quality, easily available bootleg of the Green-era Mac, accent on the Then Play On era. But those who like that period of Fleetwood Mac a lot will want to hear this, its luster enhanced by a 48-page booklet with an essay by Green biographer Martin Celmins.
The Vaudeville Years of Fleetwood Mac 1968 to 1970 (or just The Vaudeville Years) is an album by British blues rock band Fleetwood Mac, released in 1998. It was a compilation of outtakes and unreleased tracks from the band's early line up, none of which had previously seen the light of day officially.

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY - IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY / MARRYING MAIDEN
It's a Beautiful Day is an American band formed in San Francisco, California, in 1967, featuring vocalist Pattie Santos along with violinist David LaFlamme and his wife, Linda LaFlamme, on keyboards. David LaFlamme, a former soloist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra, had previously been in the band Orkustra, and unusually, played a five-string violin. The other members were Linda LaFlamme (keyboards), Pattie Santos (vocals), Hal Wagenet (guitar), Mitchell Holman (bass) and Val Fuentes (drums). Although they were one of the earliest and most important San Francisco bands to emerge from 1967's social phenomenon Summer of Love, the band never quite achieved the success of contemporaries such as Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Santana, with whom they had connections. The band created a unique blend of rock, jazz, folk, classical and world beat styles during the initial seven years it was officially together.

The Rolling Stones had pretty much out-grown doing BBC radio shows, so on 20th August 1965 they taped their final songs which were to be broadcast over two shows in the coming weeks.
‘Oh Baby (We Got A Good Thing Goin’)’ is a storming version that puts the Decca version to shame,
Buster Brown’s ‘Fannie Mae’ is a fine rhythm ‘n’ blues performance of a song they never officially recorded.
20th August: UK radio (BBC) 'Yeh! Yeh!', London. Host: Tony Hall.
