Personnel: Mick Jagger - lead vocals, guitar :: Keith Richards - guitar, backing vocals :: Ronnie Wood - guitar, backing vocals :: Bill Wyman - bass :: Charlie Watts - drums, percussion.
Additional musicians: Ian Stewart - piano :: Ian McLagan - keyboards :: Ernie Watts - saxophone.
Notes: What we have here on Something Old Something Blue is another very good to excellent soundboard. All of the instruments are nice and clear with the audience sounding distant. Mick plays MC keeping the show going at a brisk pace and having fun with the audience. He reminds the crowd that Candlestick Park was the site of the last Beatles concert, calling it useless trivia under his breath. The performance is very good building up to the finale with an astonishing string of classics. The encore “Satisfaction” comes from a mediocre sounding audience recording.
As good as this release is I’m not completely happy with it. Unlike Empress Valley’s Seattle Supersonic, Dog N Cat has used some mastering on the tape. It sounds more compressed and there is a slight metallic sound in the background more apparent in the quieter moments. Further there is slight radio interference in the mix at certain points. Probably security at the venue. Overall this is a nice release. The mastering job done on the tape isn’t enough to detract from the music, and certainly isn’t as bad as other releases I’ve listened to. (Info taken from collectors music reviews).

Following sets by the Charlie Daniels Band and The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers Band take the stage. Understandably, this night never reaches the incredible heights of the previous night and is a far more relaxed affair in comparison. Still there are enjoyable moments and some interesting guests joining them onstage.
The recording misses the first song, "Wasted Words" and begins in progress with "Done Somebody Wrong," here played in a very laid back manner. Although marred by significant fiddling with the mix, a dedication is next made to the fallen brothers, Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, before they begin the classic "One Way Out." A nice slow blues arrangement of T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday" follows, which begins with an unusual piano/guitar sequence not commonly played by the band. "Midnight Rider" is up next, played here at an unusually slow pace. The same applies to "Blue Sky," though the slower pace lends itself to a lovely piano solo from Leavell. In addition, it's nice to hear Gregg and Dickey singing together. The band's enthusiasm level increases on "Come and Go Blues," which features another memorable piano solo from Leavell. Their hit single, "Ramblin' Man" is next, followed by "Statesboro Bues," but the band really begins to hit their stride with "You Don't Love Me," pursuing more adventurous jamming endeavors.
The fun really begins when the band invites Elvin Bishop on stage and they begin to play unfamiliar music. They begin with "Fannie Mae," now with Bishop on lead vocals and guitar. Nothing outstanding, but a fun little romp to get the band heading in another direction.
At this point, bluesman John Lee Hooker joins everyone and begins one of his signature boogies, "Hey Hey My My." Around the six-minute mark some interesting slide solos develop between Bishop and Betts. A minute or so later Steve Miller adds another guitar to the proceedings and Buddy Miles takes over one of the drum kits. Once all these musicians get comfortable, the jam begins to take off. Gregg takes a fine organ solo followed by several minutes of guitar interplay. Around 16:30 into this jam, Betts begins playing a Duane-like solo and Elvin Bishop follows in unison. This sequence is reminiscent of vintage Allman Brothers with the twin leads soaring. This transitions into a dreamy section, recalling the spacier sections on live versions of "Whipping Post," before they veer off into another hot jam with everyone trading solos. After 24 minutes, they finally wind it down following one last burst of organ creativity from Gregg.
Last, but not least, they invite Charlie Daniels to the stage, who adds fiddle to the mix for Elvin's "Little Brown Bird." This jam stays relatively tame, but does include a nice solo from Daniels and gets cooking toward the end.
Though subdued in comparison to the previous night's New Years Eve festivities, this is an enjoyable evening highlighted by some unusual, exciting combinations of musicians http://fp.io/f78ea73a/

DELTA MOON
“Tom Gray and partner in crime Mark Johnson continue to show why they may be the best guitar tandem around.” – Chris Martin, The Examiner.
With the release of their seventh album Black Cat Oil in 2012, Delta Moon expands upon the sound that has sold thousands of records and allowed them to play for thousands of fans worldwide over the past several years. And with a live show second-to-none, the dual slide guitars of Delta Moon carry the listener deep into the heart of the American South, where sinuous Mississippi blues meets the gritty backwoods twang of Appalachia and winds around a rock-steady beat like kudzu on a barbwire fence. Net Rhythms calls it “Music as it should be – raw and honest.” We call it Blues-Infused American Roots.
Delta Moon’s music is a strong mix of personalities and sounds. A chance meeting in an Atlanta, GA music store brought the two founders, Tom Gray and Mark Johnson, together. Tom tried to sell Mark a Dobro out of the back of his van. Tom remembers the girl with Mark whispering, “Let’s get out of here.” Mark didn’t buy the guitar, but the two exchanged phone numbers and soon were playing together regularly in coffee shops and barbecue joints around Atlanta. Mark came up with the name Delta Moon after a pilgrimage to Muddy Waters’ cabin near Clarksdale, Mississippi.
After adding a rock-solid rhythm section, Delta Moon started playing nightclubs and festivals around South, quickly gathering a wall-full of local “best” awards, including winning the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2003. With much attention from the IBC Award, Delta Moon widened its travels to include the US, Canada, and Europe. In 2007 bassist Franher Joseph joined Delta Moon followed later by drummer Marlon Patton, completing the line up that remains today. The band’s work ethic of constant recording and touring continues into 2012 and beyond with tours scheduled for Germany, Italy, U.K., Benelux, Scandinavia, Canada, U.S. and more.
More about Tom Gray - The American Roots Music Association named Tom Gray 2008 Blues Songwriter of the Year. His songs have been recorded by Cyndi Lauper (including the hit “Money Changes Everything”), Manfred Mann, Carlene Carter, Bonnie Bramlett and many others. Tom was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Virginia and Georgia, but home was always the family farm in the North Carolina mountains. In the 1980s he led a rock group, The Brains, that recorded two albums on Mercury Records. Originally a keyboard player, Tom picked up his first lap steel guitar in the late 1980s and hasn’t put it down yet.
More about Mark Johnson - While not born in the South, Mark Johnson did grow up in a trailer park in Ravenna, Ohio. His uncle owned a record store, and there was always music in the Johnson home. Mark played guitar in bands all through high school. In the early 1990s he moved to Atlanta, where he formed a band called the Rude Northerners. About that time he abandoned standard tuning and became obsessed with bottleneck slide.

The Rolling Stones had pretty much out-grown doing BBC radio shows, so on 20th August 1965 they taped their final 7 songs which were to be broadcast over two shows in the coming weeks.
‘Oh Baby (We Got A Good Thing Goin’)’ is a storming version that puts the Decca version to shame,
Buster Brown’s ‘Fannie Mae’ is a fine rhythm ‘n’ blues performance of a song they never officially recorded.

Of the Eric Clapton Japan 2009 shows that are currently available for sharing, this is probably the only date that originates from a soundboard. This show was broadcast on Japanese satellite TV and a word of thanks to Japrainbow for extracting the tracks and sharing them on the internet. As one happy fan noted: “This will be together with the two DVDs an absolute highlight in my Clapton collection.” [The show was also shared as two DVDs on the internet.]
The setlist for this night is almost the same as that of the first night in Tokyo (February 15) with the exception of Everything’s Gonna Be Alright, which replaces Before You Accuse Me. While the feisty I Shot The Sheriff continues to be a crowd favourite, fans will certainly enjoy Clapton’s buoyant playing on Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad. What seems to be missing is Carlos Santana, who probably would have egged Clapton on and rocket the track to the stratosphere. While the audience recording of the earlier show was already very good, fans will no doubt enjoy a show that is broadcast quality.
The following was posted at the Clapton fansite, whereseric.com: “Adult contemporary radio favorite Wonderful Tonight is still in the set list to the chagrin of the Japanese fans. However, the excellent versions of I Shot The Sheriff and Little Queen Of Spades more than made up for it according to early reports! Another fan has checked in and said that their personal highlights also included EC’s solo acoustic number, Driftin’, Travelin’ Alone, Isn’t It A Pity, Motherless Child and the ending songs of Layla and Cocaine. They also reported that EC’s solos were excellent throughout the show.
“Since EC has been back at the Budokan, Layla has been plugged back in (the “unplugged” acoustic version was played at the two concerts with Jeff Beck last weekend). There were slight modifications to this evening’s set list - Isn’t It A Pity is back and Everything’s Gonna Be Alright made its first appearance since night one of the tour in Osaka.”
