A new two-disc set from the Crystal Cat label that will contain the complete performance from the concert at Funen Village in Odense, Denmark on 27 June 2011. The source tape is reportedly an excellent audience recording. There are also six bonus tracks from four other 2011 shows.

"We participated all in a great garden party, perfect environment, amphitheater packed with 2,000 spectators, surrounded by large trees, no wind, 20 degree C, blue night sky, my wife and I danceing few meters from the stage. Most of the evening Bob acted as a showman, relaxed and unpretentious,
rocking center stage with his microphone, harp or guitar, smiling "his" smile. The band was swinging and the sound mercury clear, Bobs words came out personaly strong, with long notes, in delicate balance with his tight band."

NILS LOFGREN - OLD SCHOOL

Nils Lofgren – Old School (2011)

You could forgive Nils Lofgren, best known these days as a 27-year member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, for issuing a contemplative record after such a difficult period. And there’s some of that here.
Yet, in the wake of losing both E Street saxophonist Clarence Clemons (who passed in June at age 69 from complications following a stroke) and organist/keyboard player Danny Federici (after a battle with cancer in 2008), Lofgren begins the forthcoming Old School embroiled in a vinegary rage.
He comes tearing out to open this project, making a bold statement of rock ‘n’ roll purpose on the title track: “Old School” is this crunchy,…
…horn-driven kiss off to those who spend more time whining than they do working to accomplish something—made complete by a boisterous guest vocal turn by Lou Gramm of Foreigner fame. Lofgren then white knuckles it through the riffy “60 is the New 18,” a fleet little aside than owes no small debt to the Springsteen’s rangy late-period rockers—only updated with a crumpled new-wave guitar signature.
“Love Stumbles On” combines a rockabilly riff and a common-man storyline that might fit in well on one of his employer’s albums, too. Later, Lofgren unleashes an angry yawl on the slide-driven “Amy Joan Blues,” this bumpy ride through a Delta swamp with Free/Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers. The anthematic “Dream Big” thumps along with a toweringly processed beat, as Lofgren exhorts us all to “love like a work of art.”
This frisky sense of variety should come as no surprise to anyone who’s followed Lofgren’s non-Springsteen doings. After all, he has also recorded and toured with Neil Young (a stint that included After The Gold Rush and Tonight’s The Night, among others), Willie Nelson, David Crosby, Branford Marsalis (on the Buckshot LeFonque project), Lou Reed and Ringo Starr (during his original All-Starr Band tour, and then again in 1992). Along the way, the 60-year old Lofgren has also issued an astounding 36 previous solo projects, as well.
Of course, the backwash of anger—in particular when somebody has gone—is typically sorrow, and Old School is no different. As Lofgren makes his quietly effective tribute to Ray Charles on “Miss You Ray,” a song with the same kind of shambling emotional heft as Springsteen’s “Blood Brothers,” it’s hard not to think of the recently departed Clemons. (And, as it turns out, over more recent Lofgren shows, the track has become something of a tribute to the late saxophonist …)
That Brother Ray namecheck, by the way, is not the last overt nod to the rhythm and blues influences that always run just beneath the surface of the music he makes with Springsteen—or the last frank discussion on mortality. “Ain’t Too Many of Us Left,” for instance, finds Lofgren working side by side with the great soul shouter Sam Moore, of Sam and Dave fame. The contemplative “Irish Angel,” a Bruce McCabe song that Lofgren’s been performing during acoustic shows for years, underscores the difficulties in saying goodbye—while “When You Were Mine” seeks comfort after a devastating storm finally disappears over the horizon. “Let Her Get Away” begins the process of healing, even if it’s with a grizzled, world-weary perspective on what’s been lost.
It’s unclear where the E Street Band is right now in that regard. There are, as yet, no plans to reconvene. That’s left Nils Lofgren alone with his thoughts. The result is a well-conceived journey—not just through grief, and through anger, but also toward acceptance.

This particular Dark Side Of The Moon gig was recorded by BBC Radio 1 for later broadcast, although the Echoes encore was never aired. This is the complete pre-FM master, which has only recently surfaced.

It's complete, although the line "I've been mad for fucking years" in Speak To Me has been removed. With that minor quibble out of the way, the sound quality's exceptional.

Thomas Alan “Tom” Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and actor. Waits has a distinctive voice, described by critic Daniel Durchholz as sounding “like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car.” With this trademark growl, his incorporation of pre-rock music styles such as blues, jazz,…
…and vaudeville, and experimental tendencies verging on industrial music, Waits has built up a distinctive musical persona. He has worked as a composer for movies and musical plays and as a supporting actor in films, including Down by Law and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his soundtrack work on One from the Heart. Lyrically, Waits’ songs frequently present atmospheric portrayals of grotesque, often seedy characters and places—although he has also shown a penchant for more conventional ballads. He has a cult following and has influenced subsequent songwriters despite having little radio or music video support. His songs are best-known through cover versions by more commercial artists: “Jersey Girl”, performed by Bruce Springsteen, “Ol’ ’55?, performed by the Eagles, and “Downtown Train”, performed by Rod Stewart. Although Waits’ albums have met with mixed commercial success in his native United States, they have occasionally achieved gold album sales status in other countries. Live On Lakeside documents the final day’s performance at the Chicago stop of the Dave Matthews Band Caravan, a series of four multi-day festivals celebrating the group’s 20th anniversary in 2011. Though Matthews and his cohorts possess plenty of verve, they sound as if they’re waging war with one of those oppressive Midwest summers. The jams don’t explode so much as they build, plateau, and then melt. Always at least three steps ahead of contemporary popular music, Can were the leading avant-garde rock group of the ’70s. From their very beginning, their music didn’t conform to any commonly held notions about rock & roll — not even those of the countercultures. Inspired more by 20th century classical music than Chuck Berry, their closest contemporaries were Frank Zappa or possibly the Velvet Underground. Yet their music was more serious and inaccessible than either of those artists. Instead of recording tight pop songs or satire, Can experimented with noise, synthesizers, nontraditional music, cut-and-paste techniques, and, most importantly, electronic music; each album marked a significant step forward from the previous album, investigating new territories…
…that other rock bands weren’t interested in exploring.
With 1971's two-record set Tago Mago, Can hit their visionary stride, shedding the constraints of pop forms and structures to explore long improvisations, angular rhythms, and experimental textures. 40th anniversary edition of this genre-defying album comes packaged in the original UK artwork for the first time since 1971, and includes a bonus CD featuring 50 minutes of unreleased live material from 1972, remastered in 2011.
