DEF LEPPARD / MIRROR BALL - LIVE AND MORE

Fresh from their recent headlining performance at this year’s Download Festival, Sheffield rockers Def Leppard are back with their newest offering ‘Mirror Ball’. It may come as a surprise to many that, after more than 30 years, nine albums, countless world tours and hit singles, this is the band’s first-ever live album. Recorded at various dates following the 2008 release of their ninth album ‘Songs from the Sparkle Lounge’, ‘Mirror Ball’ features live versions of 21 tracks from Def Leppard’s 30-year back catalogue. Diehard Leppard fans will be pleased to hear that, not only are they getting a fantastic live double-album for their money, but also three brand-new studio tracks, ‘Undefeated’, ‘Kings of the World’ and ‘It’s All About Believing’. Newer additions to the Def Leppard fanbase, on the other hand, should find that this doubles as an ideal ‘best of’ compilation, encompassing the majority of the band’s biggest hits from the ‘80s and ‘90s, as well as a smaller selection of their more recent material. - stereoboard.com

THE WARLOCKS - 1965/11/03 Autumn Records Demo

The Warlocks - 1965/11/03 Autumn Records Demo

The Warlocks were formed in Palo Alto at the end of 1964 when Jerry Garcia, Ron "PigPen" McKernan and Bob Weir, who were members of Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions, decided that they wanted to play "electric" music. They added a rhythm section, Dana Morgan Jr. on bass and local drummer Bill Kreutzmann. The first Warlock performance was in Magoo's pizza parlour in Menlo Park in May 1965. After a handful of performances Phil Lesh replaced Dana Morgan on bass.

The Warlocks recorded one demo session for Autumn Records in early November 1965. The music from this session was not released at the time but has appeared on subsequent collections. Eventually, the band learned that another band was already called the Warlocks, a band led by Billy Gibbons, the future guitarist of ZZ Top. The Warlocks played their last show in November 1965 and thereafter adopted the name the Grateful Dead. For the occasional show in later years the Grateful Dead were billed as the Grateful Dead (formerly The Warlocks).

Six songs exist from the Warlocks recording session on November 3, 1965 at Golden Gate Recorders in San Francisco;

01 Early Morning Rain

03 Mindbender (Confusion's Prince)
04 The Only Time Is Now
